How do you want to write your motherhood narrative?

I think we’ve all been there - we see the photographs of a mom with her husband and kids smiling and laughing and we can’t wait for that to be us one day. Or, we see people we know or look up to become moms and grow their families and the joy we see on their faces and we ache to experience that, too.
Then, we get pregnant (or adopt or become stepparents) for the first time and reality sets in fast. Its nothing like we expected it to be. No one warned us about the utter exhaustion this never-ending job brings. No one warned us about the debilitating overwhelm of the mental load of caring for another tiny human being while also keeping our marriages alive, growing our careers, managing our homes, caring for ourselves, and more.
Before we know it, we are walking zombies. We’re exhausted, we feel like we’ve lost ourselves, we’re tired of being touched, we feel like we have no boundaries, we feel like we’re always cleaning, and more. We want to be present with and enjoy our kids. We want to joyfully serve our husbands. We want to cultivate and manage our homes well. But, we have nothing left to pour from, so we drown even more.
