How to Kick Fear To The Curb For Good
I used to get really frustrated when I heard (or read) the phrase, “do not be afraid,” in the Bible.
It just felt so….impossible.
We’ve all felt afraid before. We’ve all been in minor situations that are fearful, like that giant spider in your kitchen (sorry for the visual), and we’ve all been in major situations that are fearful, like a scary diagnosis, job loss, or other uncertainties.
In fact, we live more of our lives in fear than we realize.
We live in fear when we don’t ask for help for fear of being judged.
We live in fear when we don’t eat that cookie because we don’t have the best relationship with our bodies.
We live in fear when we don’t take that first step toward that dream we have because we’re afraid of failure, burnout, or causing undue harm toward others in the process.
In fact, that is the number one thing that is holding most of you back from stepping into the calling that God has for you. I know this because it’s exactly what you told me on Instagram when I asked you all what was holding you back from pursuing those dreams and desires on your heart.
In fact, here are the exact fears you stated:
Fear of burnout.
Fear of marital strain.
Fear of judgment.
Fear of the unknown.
Fear of not being able to keep the household running.
Fear, fear, fear. It’s everywhere, isn’t it?
So, how do we “not fear” as the Lord has told us not to in His word? The Bible tells us not to fear 365 times. Three-hundred and sixty-five times. That’s literally one time for every day of the week. When you put that in perspective, you can either feel like a total failure for all the fear you have been feeling or you can feel totally relieved that God loves us so much that He has intentionally made sure that we know not to fear every single day of the year.
Choosing not to fear is just that - a choice.
It is choosing not to allow the feeling of fear to paralyze us. It’s choosing faith OVER fear. Moving in faith EVEN THOUGH you feel fear.
The devil uses fear to keep us from our calling.
And, he knows that us mamas are prone to fear. We are fearless when it comes to protecting our babies. We’re fearless when it comes to fighting for our marriages. Yet, we are fearFUL when it’s time to fight for ourselves, our callings, our own personal lives.
The devil knows this, so he preys on it. With the power of the Holy Spirit inside of you, you get to choose that this won’t be your narrative. God has already foreseen every struggle you will face and He’s already prepared the tools and resources you will need to overcome those challenges.
Don’t let fear rule you.
Don’t let fear stop you.
When we let that fear rule, that’s when we let distrust of God creep in, and that significantly disrupts our faith.
Bring that fear back to Jesus and cast it on to Him.
You have Kingdom work to do, girl.
